Library Introduction

The Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (KASI) Library collects and keeps crucial information resources on astronomy and space science and provides information services for KASI researchers, staff, and visitors. The library preserves the research products (research/technical reports, research notes, and so on) of KASI, the leading research institute for Korean astronomy and space research, and keeps audiovisual resources in various media.

The library provides researchers with various online databases (DBs) in specialized fields to promote research improvement and convenience. It also furnishes various books related to astronomy and space science and educational books in the humanities and social sciences to promote knowledge and self-improvement among community members.

Primary Functions
- Purchase and provide user services for Journal Web DB, books, and print journals, taking account of the needs of researchers and staff
- Provide reference services on astronomy and space science as well as the humanities and social sciences
- Provide interlibrary loan service for specialty DBs according to user requests
- Secure DB infrastructure for astronomy and space science documents centered on KASI published reports
Hours
- KASI researchers and staff : 24 hours, open-shelf system (except during the yearly book inventory); research, reading, lending, and copying of books
- Visitors : Weekdays 08:30–17:30 (except holidays and weekends), closed-shelf system (lending unavailable)
Regulations
- Term: 2 months (extension service available)
- Limited lending: Confidential resources published by KASI, periodicals
